The judges were initially skeptical, suspecting the talented singer of lip syncing and insisting on an encore, What followed left them completely speechless, Her voice wasnt just beautiful, it was magical, With her breathtaking encore performance, she dispelled all doubts and captivated everyone, proving her critics wrong
During the September 8 premiere of “Rock Diary: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band” at the Toronto International Film Festival, Patti Scialfa, a valued member of the E Street Band and wife of Bruce Springsteen, courageously shared her journey with cancer. Diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2018, which impacts the immune system, Scialfa has significantly altered her lifestyle, stepping back from extensive touring to focus on her health.
Scialfa shared that she now makes occasional appearances to perform a few songs, describing these moments as joyful and a part of her “new normal,” which she has embraced with acceptance due to her vulnerable immune system.
In a heartfelt interview with the Asbury Park Press, she spoke about reducing her tour involvement since the band’s tour began in February 2023. Instead, she has chosen to focus on her solo album and spend precious time with her granddaughter, Lily Springsteen, born in July 2022. “The band is strong enough to shine even in my absence,” she noted, appreciating how the seamless performances have given her the opportunity to concentrate on personal projects and family time.
This break has also allowed her to make significant progress on her solo record, a project that was difficult to pursue with Bruce’s constant involvement in the studio.
Bruce Springsteen himself has dealt with health issues, postponing the remainder of his 2023 tour for treatment of peptic ulcer disease and canceling shows in the summer of 2024 due to vocal problems.
As Patti Scialfa bravely battles multiple myeloma, our thoughts are with her. We encourage you to share your messages of support and thoughts in the comments below.
