Cormac Thompson Young Chorister Sings Empty Chairs At Empty Tables

Cormac Thompson, a prodigious choir singer from Lancashire, UK, began his musical journey at just 8 years old. By 2020, he launched a YouTube channel, sharing his performances and catching the attention of Decca Records, which led to a collaboration on an album.

His rendition of “Empty Chairs at Empty Tables” from “Les Misérables” was recorded in London’s Masterchord Studio. This performance was released as a charity single to support “Acting For Others,” an organization that provides financial and emotional support to theatre workers during difficult times.

At 13 years old, Cormac’s vocal delivery exhibits a maturity beyond his years. The lockdown in 2020 meant he couldn’t visit his grandmother, who adores his singing. To bridge the gap, his mother recorded his performances to share with her online, sparking his realization of his deep love for singing.

Cormac’s dedication to music sees him singing daily, working towards a promising career. In 2021, he joined forces with Dominic Ferris, a renowned pianist with ties to the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and over 3 million album sales globally. Together, they have recorded eight songs, showcasing Cormac’s exceptional talent.

Cormac also made waves on television, reaching the finals of the “BBC Young Chorister of the Year” at Salisbury Cathedral, with clips available on his YouTube channel.

Discussing his musical influences, Cormac appreciates a variety of music, from Ed Sheeran, whose songs he’s learning on the piano, to pieces with beautiful melodies that highlight his treble voice. He cherishes his current vocal range, knowing that soon his voice will mature.
